Last year I shared a post about 10 quick and easy instant makeovers you can do, and one of them was to change up your hair color. Changing your hair color, adding highlights or low-lights, or even something as simple as getting your roots done can do wonders to your look (and you attitude).
I always feel so much better after a trip to the salon. But with 2 kids (and a one year old that I babysit all day) life is seems to be constantly busy and finding time to go to the salon can be a challenge. Not to mention how pricey it can be!
I really try to avoid dying my hair as much as possible since my hair is pretty thin. I’m the kind of girl that goes to the salon about 2 times a year and waits until my roots are bad before I buy a box of hair dye to take care of it myself. My roots are at that stage right now and instead of dying them, I decided to try the John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Visibly Brighte system to see if it brings some life and color to my dull hair.

John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Visibly Brighter System:
The Brilliant Brunette Visibly Brighter system is what a Shampoo and Conditioner is supposed to: naturally and gradually brighten your hair by providing a sun-kissed brunette glow. The In Shower treatment instantly lightens your hair one shade (in your color spectrum) and is safe for natural and color-treated hair. I used the Shampoo and Conditioner first, then the in-shower treatment, as directed in the instructions.

I had a good feeling about the In-Shower treatment as soon as I opened the bottle because it had that hair dye smell to it. You know the one. It also had the same feel of hair dye, but unlike hair dye, you only have to leave this on your hair for 5 minutes.
I was honestly hoping that I would at least be able to notice a slight difference and was seriously shocked at how much of an improvement I saw, even with my hair yet. I even googled other results and saw that there was a significant change in the pictures I saw.
This really did lighten up my hair and took out the dullness from it. My hair is shiny and brighter and here’s the best part: those pesky dark roots I had are almost not even noticeable now. It didn’t completely take them away, but it did provide a gradual an natural fade from my roots to the rest of my hair. I think I can extend this for another month or two until I have to retouch my roots! I was really impressed with this treatment from John Frieda and I will definitely keep using it for those times when I was a quick and easy ‘instant makeover’.
My hair become significantly brighter and has more shine and color to it. Previously, you can see my very dark roots peeking out at the top, and on the right they are a gradual fade to the rest of my hair color.
Go-To Fall Outfit:
Fall is my favorite time of year. One of my favorite things about Fall is being able to wear knits (this is a luxury in Arizona!). As a busy mom of two girls, I don’t always have time to get ready every day. But there are times when I just want to look nice…without having to spend hours to achieve it. Here is one of my favorite go-to outfits for when I want to dress up quickly.
These chunky cable-knit leggings, paired with an olive sweater tunic with high slits on the sides is one of my favorite lazy girl outfits. Nothing beats comfortable (and stretchy leggings). I love the olive color of the sweater because it goes great with this season and it goes well with my darker hair. I don’t think there is anything that gives an instant mood lift like slipping on some heels. Since I like to keep my toes warm, these wedge-heeled booties are the way to go for me. Adding my favorite Betsey Johnson dangly earrings and a jeweled hair tie, with my hot pink and brown glasses competes the look.
