I have been on the hunt for the perfect foundation for a few months. I’ve tried drugstore and non-drugstore products and never quite found a shade that I was happy with both the formula/finish AND the color. It seemed to be either one or the other. I was happy with the Ready Set Gorgeous by Cover Girl, but it was a bit too pink for me. I really like the finish of the Maybelline Fit Me Smooth and Dewy, but it was too yellow for me. I liked the color of the Tarte Amazonian Clay foundation, but the finish was awful on my face. I hated the way it clung to me in some areas. I absolutely loved the color of the Maybeline Matte and Poreless foundation, but I absolutely hated the finish! I swear it emphasized my pores even more and it just looked flat on me and chalky once I added blush and highlight.
I ended up buying the L’Oreal Pro-Matte foundation on a whim while I was grocery shopping one day. I had stayed away from this prior to this because of the hype and the word ‘matte’ scares me away for some reason. What made me pick this up (other than the glowing reviews) was that the color (102 Shell Beige) was a pretty damn good match for me. Not too pink or too yellow, which is what I was having trouble with before.
One use of this foundation and I knew I had found my perfect match. Don’t let the matte formula scare you away if matte isn’t for you. The finish isn’t flat or chalky and it doesn’t feel heavy at all. With just a little bit of product, the coverage was really good and made my skin look so much nicer. I did notice that my foundation was oxidizing, but once I changed primers (to a Loreal brand) and used toner, it no longer changes colors on me after a few hours.
But, the best part is not only that I don’t ave to make a special trip to Sephora to get this or have to order online since it’s available at Target and even my local grocery store. That is always a bonus since I don’t live in the city. The really great thing about this is the price. At only $12.99 (I got mine for $9.99 since it was on sale), this is such a steal! I don’t mind splurging for a good quality product when I can, but this right here is proof that you don’t have to make a dent in your bank account to get a great product.
Have you tried this foundation yet? I have a few of their other Infallible products (lipsticks, lip glosses, eye shadows, eyeliner) and I am really happy with them. I want to try the pro-matte powder, but what I really want is the Pro-Matte primer. I have yet to see this at the drugstores though.
