I love beauty products, but I don’t always want to waste a lot of money on those beauty products. I don’t mind splurging once in a while when the product is worth it, but I love finding a good dupe for a high-end beauty product. Tarte is one of my favorite high-end makeup brands, and I have been wanting to get their new Tarteist Lip Paint since I saw the previews on Instagram.
From the pictures, the consistency reminded me of the Nyx Soft Matte Lip Creams, which I loooove. I had seen great reviews and was so excited when I got a one at Amazon a few weeks ago (with another Tarte purchase, of course). The Tarte costs almost 3 times more than Nyx. Should you splurge or save? Read my thoughts on both of these products below!
Tarte Tarteist Lip Paint:
What I love about this matte lip paint is how creamy and hydrating it is. I’m not a big fan of the super liquidy matte liquid lipsticks that dry on your lips and make your lips feel like cement. I love how these are matte, but your lips never feel dry and the color lasts a long time. I would agree that the finish is a velvety matte finish and I loved the color, the finish, and the formula.
Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream:
I also think that the color on this one last a little bit longer than the Tarte one. I have a few different shades ranging in pinks, nudes, mauves and a vampy shade and I want more colors. It has 12 shades to choose from. All shades are named after different capital cities around the world. I would personally recommend Amsterdam, Addis Ababa, and London. I don’t feel like I’m spending so much money on a beauty product, but I’m still getting fantastic results.
Splurge or Save?
Although I really liked the color and the formula of the Tarteist Lip Paint, I’m gonna have to go with the Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream this time. I could buy 4 of the Nyx by spending same amount of money to buy one Tarte Tartiest!
The Nyx color I recommend is my favorite shade (Amsterdam), which I know is not a match for Birthday Suit, but the formula and finish is the same. I’m sure Nyx has a color that could even be a dupe for Birthday Suit.
I’m glad I bought the Tarteist Lip Paint, but I’m not sure I would repurchase one on my own. If you’re looking for a high-quality matte lip cream that won’t cost a small fortune, I highly recommend the Nyx Soft Matte Lip Creams!
