No matter how much I try to make it to the gym, I always seem to find an excuse to not go. I have a really great gym less than 5 minutes away from my house, and although I have the baby with me 4 days a week, I really have no excuse to not go when he’s off on Tuesdays or the weekends. I have finally accepted that the gym is just not for me. I am better motivated to workout when I don’t have to force myself to make my way to the gym and when I find workouts that I actually look forward to doing. Here are some of my favorite workouts that I’ve really been enjoying lately, no gym required.
My Favorite Workouts (No Gym Required):
Jogging: This has become a recent favorite workout of mine. I hadn’t run in a long time and had to build my way up from walking to jogging and although it still feels like my lungs want to explode while I’m running, I can jog longer and longer each day. I used to only like running on treadmills (where the machine would pretty much force me to keep running) but since I don’t own a treadmill at home and don’t want to go to the gym I’ve been running around the lake in my neighborhood. Even though the gym is right next to the lake, I still prefer to run around the lake.
Riding My Bike: This is an exercise that I can only do a few months out of the year, but I love it. During the cold months, I don’t like riding my bike and it’s pretty much impossible to bike during the Summers here in Arizona. So we only ride our bikes in the Spring time for a few miles around our neighborhood. I don’t know how to ride a normal bicycle so I have a big ass tricycle, the kind with the big basket. I wish I could ride my bike around the lake, but my bike is too big and heavy to take it by myself.
T25: I loooove T25! This is what made me get into working out in the first place. Being able to have a really good workout, at home, without any equipment needed is so convenient. The fact that all the workouts take 25 minutes is just an added bonus. I spend way more time than that playing the Tsum Tsum game on my phone so I really have no excuses for not being able to do these workouts. These workouts are so easy and fun to do, but they leave you so sore the next day so you know they work.
Walking: If running isn’t your thing, then you can always try walking. Walking is probably my least favorite exercise to do because it takes so long, but on days when I’m feeling a little lazy but still want to workout, this is my last resort. I also sometimes end up walking the last mile of my run because my legs feel like jelly. Sometimes I walk around the lake, other times we go take our dogs to walk to the dog park or just around or neighborhood.
At Home Quicky Workout: If you don’t have T25 or don’t like exercise videos, then try an at home workout routine that you can easily find on Pinterest or online. There are plenty of different and easy workouts that target different areas, or some that are a full body workout. If you’re in a hurry, you can try a 5 or 10 minute routine or even a longer one. If you have small weights, you can even find routines that incorporate this in your workout. This is one of my favorite workouts to do at home, no equipment required:
