If I can get away with not wearing foundation, then I will totally take that opportunity! I didn’t start wearing foundation until last year (I’m 29 years old) and most days I prefer to wear powder or BB/CC creams. Especially during the hot Summer months here in Arizona, the last thing I need is to feel like I have a lot of heavy makeup on my face. Like I’ve mentioned before, I am very light-skinned and get redness on my face (and all-over my body in general). If I don’t wear foundation, I like something that neutralizes my redness. One of my solutions is the Nyx Color Correcting Cream in the Green shade.
Each color is meant for different things, since my issue is redness I went with the Green in Light (the have them in two shades which is nice). Unlike the Maybelline Primer which has a slight minty green color to it, this CC cream is full on mint green. I was a little bit worried when I first opened this because I wasn’t sure how all this green cream would blend on my face. There are actually tiny pigment beads in this cream and when you rub it on your skin, it completely eliminates the green and turns into a very natural skin shade. I’m always a little amazed at how all the green blends away every time I wear this.
This really does a great job at cancelling my redness and giving me slight coverage without having to wear foundation. My only issue with this is that is has a slight yellow undertone (on me anyway) and I prefer neutral or pink undertones. I like to use this mostly in the summer months when I have glowy/bronzed skin or self tan (a tiny bit). I’ve always been fascinated with anything having to do with colors and the color wheel (my dream job as a child was to name Crayola colors) and I love that color correcting is such a trend in beauty right now. So far, I’ve tried green (to neutralize red), orange (to neutralize dark circles) and pink to brighten the under eye area but I really want to try more color correction options, especially lavender.
If you suffer from red or splotchy skin, then this (or an item similar to this) would be a great product to try. I am a huge fan of Nyx Cosmetics since they always have such amazing and affordable products. Although this is more on the expensive range for their brand, it’s worth it in my opinion. I’ll be using this a lot again in the upcoming summer months.
Do you use any color correcting products?
